Man Utd hold Zirkzee hostage: Serie A heavyweights beg for his January release

Gian Piero Gasperini is ready to welcome him, yet Old Trafford's silence threatens to blow up the entire deal

Gian Piero Gasperini has made his feelings crystal clear: Joshua Zirkzee is the striker he wants in January. The Roma boss has already given the green light for the Dutch forward's arrival, convinced the Bologna star (currently owned by Manchester United) is tailor-made for his system.

Sources tell that Gasperini has admired Zirkzee for years and even tried to bring him to Atalanta, only to lose out due to heavy competition. Now, with full control of Roma's sporting project, he has already discussed the striker's profile with the club’s directors - and approved the move without hesitation.

Roma are exploring a loan with option to buy, and Zirkzee would gladly return to Serie A. The obstacle? Manchester United's demands - and the danger that other clubs could jump in and present a permanent offer in the coming weeks.

Gasperini considers Zirkzee the perfect fit: able to play as a No. 9 or drift wide, mobile, technical, and ideal for the fluid attacking style the coach wants to build at the Olimpico.

But the club knows the truth: even if Zirkzee arrives, Roma need two attacking reinforcements in the January Transfer Window. And until United decide, Gasperini can do nothing but wait.
