Man whose middle name is relegation: Ayew can't catch a break

The latest demotion with Leicester City was the sixth in the Ghanaian's 17-year career

From one perspective, Jordan Ayew is one of the most notable Ghanaian players of his generation. He is among the African players who left the strongest mark in the English Premier League. He is second in the Black Stars' all-time list of most-capped players and fourth in the all-time scoring charts.

However, unfortunately for the striker, there's the other side of the coin that reveals a painful truth: Jordan Ayew is one of the unluckiest players football has ever seen.

The latest relegation to League One with Leicester City was the sixth in the 34-year-old's 17-year career, meaning that he has suffered a demotion roughly once every three years!

His "curse" started with the French side Sochaux in 2013 and continued with two more straight relegations with Lorient and Aston Villa.

In the following season, he helped the Villans survive in the Championship before joining Swansea City, and was immediately demoted from the EPL in his maiden campaign with the Welsh side.

During the next seven seasons, Ayew finally enjoyed some stability with the Swans, Crystal Palace, and Leicester, and then the Foxes made him relive his long-forgotten nightmare two times in a row!

His deal with the former Premier League champions expires in 54 days and, given his salary and the club's current financial struggles, an extension seems unlikely.

However, due to his strange relegation record, teams may think twice before signing him.
