Brighton's Solly March missed the penalty and allowed the Red Devils to fight for another trophy this year

One cup in the bag, another one is just 90 minutes away. Manchester United won a dramatic shoot-out at Wembley stadium and defeated Brighton and Howe Albion to reach the FA Cup finals, where they will meet their arch-rivals Manchester United. After 120 minutes without goals, but with plenty of excitement and chances, it was the penalty roulette which decided the winner in a game which chould go either way. And there are two players who were the reason why the game ended without goals: David De Gea and Solly March. The first one again played an excellent game with three wonderful saves, and partially redeemed himself for terrible display in the Europa League defeat against Seville, while the other one missed two good chances (both saved by De Gea) and in the end, missed the crucial penalty.

This was an unfair game for Brighton, as they were better team with better chances, but since they didn't break De Gea during the 120 minutes, they had to win the penalty shootout. And while both teams didn't have so many situations like this, United had far more experienced players for the penalty drama, with footballers like Casemiro or Rashford among the first penalty takers. Brighton was good to, as their terrific defender duo Dunk – Webster were also on target, but as the first five penalties were finished, other players stepped in and March was the unlikely looser. De Gea had a paper with Brighton's penalty takers statistics hidden in his towel and checked it before every shot, but still failed to save a single penalty. But, when March came, United's Weghorst gave him the ball and said something to him, and then De Gea came to the penalty spot to distract him too, and it worked, as his shot was wide above the crossbar. it was Victor Lindelof who scored the decisive penalty after that and allowed United to fight for the second cup trophy this season. They will meet their rivals Manchester City in the final, and it will be the first time ever that these teams are playing against each other in the FA Cup final.

In the first half, chances were rare (only three shots on taget from both teams) and there were dangerous moments on both sides of the pitch, but they didn't turned into a real chances, apart from Eriksen's injury time shot, which was kicked away by Brighton's keeper Sanchez. Brighton started the second half much better, as the Seagulls had three great chances, and two of them were denied by De Gea. The Spanish goalkeeper had a great parade after a shot form Enciso in the 56th minute, before doing almost the same after March's shot minutes later. In between those two saves, Danny Welbeck's header went over the bar. And then it was time for Sanchez to do his save of the day, after Antony's low, left-footed shot.

It was a moment after which United took control again, but couldn't capitalize on it. And De Gea had another good save when March's low shot was destined for goal, but that was it until extra-time. The first 15 minutes were not so great, which was logical, considering that the players were tired and concentration was low, but quiet Rashford blasted the ball in the 105th minute and Sanchez made De Gea-like save to deny the Red Devils. Rashford finally woke up after 100 minutes of football and had another chance in the second extra-time, but was not precise. Apart from March, Mitoma was the tragedian also, because he missed a sitter minutes before the end. If he scored, everything would be over, but he overcomplicated, as he did for most of the game and allowed a penalty drama which ended badly for his team.
