Matano has welcomed the move by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a bid to resume sporting activities in the country.
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta after he ordered the Sports and Health Ministry to draft guidelines for the resumption of sporting activities.
Uhuru issued the directive in State House, Nairobi as the country marked World Labour Day with sports being part of the raft of Covid-19 measures revised by the President.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Matano could not hide his delight after Uhuru hinted at the imminent resumption of sports in the country.
“That is a good move, I appreciate and congratulate him (Uhuru) for thinking about many sectors of the economy, the sports ban really affected coaches and players including their families,”
“It is a wise move and I congratulate him again for the good work, I just hope those tasked with drafting the guidelines will do so so that we can go back to the field,” said Matano.

Sports in the country were suspended from Friday 26 March after the country witnessed surging cases of Covid-19.
The ban on sporting activities came when Tusker were enjoying a healthy six-point advantage at the summit of the league but Matano revealed that the move to halt the league did not disappoint him.
“I was not disappointed by the ban on sports despite us being top of the table because this is a pandemic and it affected us all,”
“If it was only us affected we would have been disappointed but since we are all in the same boat we took it positively, there was little we could do because it is a crisis,” added Matano.
