Kahata was the Bankers' first mid-season signing as announced by the club on Thursday, 8 January.
The former Gor Mahia man went ahead to make his debut for the club a day later during their FKF Premier League match against his immediate former club, Kenya Police FC, coming on at half-time to replace Boniface Omondi.
Speaking to the press after the match, Matano opened up on the motivation that led to the signing of the experienced midfielder.
“He is an experienced creative player who will add value to our attacking third, and in a few matches, he will be okay and ready to showcase his quality.
He has been away without a competitive club for over six months and so you do not expect immediate impact from him, but we will give him time to adjust,” said Matano.
On his part, the former Thika United man attributed his decision to join the 2024 Mozzart Bet Cup finalists to their title ambitions and profile of players.

“I have been following KCB closely, and it is a good team that is fighting for the league title and has good, quality players, and therefore I saw it wise to join them.
I bring in the experience and quality which, when merged with others in the team, we can challenge for the title,” said Kahata.
Apart from Kahata, KCB, who welcomed back Fortune Omotto from a lengthy injury, have also disclosed their plan in the mid-season window.
“We have to get a few players to strengthen our attacking third, which is lacking. Maybe two or three players who are speedy to make us a threat and have a solid team that can fight more,” stated Matano.
KCB are seventh on the log with 22 points and will lock horns with reigning Mozzart Bet Cup champions Nairobi United in their next league match set for Thursday, 15 January at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
