Mathare United doctor gives an update on three injured stars

Mathare United attacking midfielder Daniel Otieno will be sidelined for two weeks following a thigh injury sustained during their 2-1 loss to KCB on Wednesday at the Ruaraka grounds.

Otieno appeared to struggle with the pace of the match hardly a minute after giving the 2008 champions an early lead in the match was taken off for Klinsman Omulanga before the stroke of half an hour.

The club doctor Wycliffe Omom confirmed that the former Sony Sugar man who is arguably their best player this season thanks to his five goals and two assists will sit out for at least two weeks a development which is certainly a blow in their plot to survive the drop.

"He picked a minor thigh injury early in the game. We expect him to be available for selection after two weeks," he disclosed.

Omom also cleared the air on the expected date of return of the club captain Chrispinus Oduor who has missed the last two matches due to a knee injury.

The experienced midfielder who was part of the Harambee Stars squad which won the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge picked a knock prior to the Vihiga United game but the technical bench can rest easy as he will be fit in ten days time.

"He is recovering well from a knee injury suffered in training. He will be ready by next weekend but one," he said.

Meanwhile, Omom disclosed that the club's centre back Harun Junior will resume training in two months time.

Junior went under the knife in February, a year after tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in a league duel against Sofapaka.

" Junior has two months remaining in his rehabilitation program. He has already covered three months of the same. He is likely to be available for selection next season," he added.
