Mathare's ‘Van Persie’ eager to end goal drought after injury

Mathare United forward is currently enduring a rough patch of form but his looking to regain his scoring touch.
Following a spell on the sidelines, Mathare United forward Daniel Otieno alias Van Persie is eager to break his seven-game goal drought and secure another season in the top flight with the club.
The Slum Boys look to have finally turned their fortunes around after a torrid start to the season that saw them anchored to the foot of the table but recent form has put them within touching distance of safety.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Otieno exuded confidence in ending his goal drought but is delighted that the team has picked up some form at the opportune time with 12 games left to the end of the season.
“I’m confident of breaking my goal drought but the team has been performing well of late which makes me happy and that is the most important thing. I know I have to regain my form and hit the level of fitness I had before football was suspended in the country to score goals and help the team,” said Otieno.
The former Sony Sugar forward has five goals under his belt this season and is Mathare’s top scorer with his goals being immense to the club.

Otieno revealed that he putting in an extra shift in training to sharpen his scoring touch and had no doubts that the club will beat the drop at the end of the season.
“I usually got to training early before the team meets for training to work on my finishing to regain my finishing touch since recovering from my injury. I am confident we will escape relegation this season - with another two wins in the next games we will be out of the relegation zone which will boost our confidence,” added Otieno.
