He scored the opener as the Brewers won at Bukhungu Stadium against Homeboyz

Tusker FC winger Lawrence Luvanda is setting his eyes on netting ten goals for the Brewers by the end of the current Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign.

The former Vihiga United player opened his tally for the season in the 2-1 win over Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium, netting the opener from the spot after Homeboyz's defender had handled the ball in the box.

Last season, Luvanda managed to score thrice and he is now hoping he will have an injury free-season to enable him to add at least seven to last season's tally to make it 10.

"I hope that this season I will bang in more goals than last season. I scored in the first match and I pray that I have an injury free campaign. I hope this season I can score at least 10 goals," he told the club's media.

Robert Matano's charges went on to win the game and end a six-year spell that had seen them fail to win their opening match since 2016, with Jackson Macharia scoring the winner as Christopher Masinza grabbed the consolation goal for Homeboyz.

Further, the speedy winger revealed that the win was enough motivation for the Brewers who will be seeking to defend the title, noting that they are hopeful they will get more wins.

"Getting the win on the first day of the league was a big motivation for us. We are thankful that the league has finally resumed and we started well. We hope to get more wins," he added.
