Kisumu All Stars missed a chance to move top of the league after playing out a 2-2 stalemate against Luanda Villa
Seven games of desperation and misery finally came to an end for Mully Children Family FC (MCF FC) on Sunday afternoon as they registered their first win this season, beating Migori Youth 1-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
MCF were the only side without a win heading into round eight of the second tier, and winger Ramadhan Mwanzia was the savior as he hit the fastest National Super League goal this term in the 1st minute of play.
The goal was enough to lift the Robert Arasa Orangi-coached side out of the bottom of the league’s standings for the first time since the start of the campaign.
Having amassed a total of seven points, MCF are now 18th on the standings, while Migori, who suffered the second defeat of the season, dropped to 12th on the NSL log.
SS Assad 2-2 Nairobi United
At Ukunda Showground in Kwale, Nairobi United battled Assad to a 2-2 draw to maintain their unbeaten run.
The Naibois took control of the match thanks to goals from Majaliwa Charo in the 47th minute and Henry Omollo adding a second in the 54th minute before Hemed Mwatsingau and Juma Mwazizi leveled the scores for Simba Gii to hand them a share of the spoils.
The stalemate, however, did not affect the standings for both Nairobi and Assad, as they stayed rooted seventh and eighth on twelve and eleven points, respectively.
Luanda Villa 2-2 Kisumu All Stars
Luanda Villa threw away a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 against Kisumu All-Stars at Mumboha Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Harrison Tiema and Timothy Ndayala had found the back of the net for Villa before former Tusker defender Kevin Monyi and Christopher Onyango gave All Stars a share of the spoil to remain firmly in the promotion race.
Despite missing a chance to move to the top of the NSL standings, the stalemate brought the Kisumu-based club to second, one point behind league leaders Mathare United.
In other matches staged on Sunday, Derrick Kipkoech scored the lone goal at Vapor Ngong as Silibwet Leons stunned Vihiga Bullets to record a second win of the campaign that moved the Mark Asa Otieno-coached club to fourteenth on the standings on nine points.
At the same venue, Kibera Black Stars battled to a 1-1 draw against Dimba Patriots.
