The club has been active since turning forty years at the turn of the calendar

Hardly three weeks after confirming former Gor Mahia and Kenyan international midfielder Moses Odhiambo as the new head coach, Division Two side Meru Bombers have started a robust member registration drive.

Bombers who on the rebuilding path after nearly sinking into oblivion appointed Odhiambo as the new boss last month, a move that saw the former midfielder reunite with the club he featured for in the late 90s.

The club, which turned forty years at the turn of the calendar, launched an interactive Short Message Service (SMS) membership drive on Monday to grow their fanbase.

Interested fans willing to join the membership book are called upon to send the word Meru to 22098, free of charge.

Apart from reaching out to potential members through short messages, the club intends to partner with the local media to lure followers.

"When one sends the message to the code, they will get a welcoming message and are requested to choose from a list of media partners from where they heard about the service. We are partnering with Meru based media services to drive recruitment and membership to the Fan Club," said the club in a statement.

The interactive service will be used to provide information and receive feedback from fans. It will also be used as our main ticketing service in a first of its kind SMS Ticketing Platform.

Fans will earn Bomber Points for any interaction in a reward system that will see them get discounts at our events, shop and stadium hospitality.

The membership drive is seen as an effort to make the Kinoru Stadium a fortress during match days. The facility that has been under construction for years is expected to be opened for use in the near future.
