Modest Motta: 'If I had children, I would want a coach like me for them'

And while Juve boss' self-esteem skyrocketed, the Bianconeri fans called him "a piece of s**t" at the recent protest in front of the team's hotel

The situation at Allianz Stadium has been pretty odd these days. Over the past 12 days, Juventus have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by the Dutch PSV Eindhoven as well as from the Coppa Italia by the minnows Empoli.

Still, that did not affect Thiago Motta's self-esteem as the Old Lady's boss had some quite bold statements in the pre-match press conference ahead of tonight's Serie A clash against Hellas Verona (22.45).

"Do I feel the trust of the club and players? Yes. The relationship between me and the team is excellent, it always has been and always will be. There's honesty, responsibility, and communication. If I had children, I would want a coach like me for them. Honest and direct. I'm not incompetent. I've been in football for 20 years and I consider myself very competent in what I do," declared the 42-year-old tactician via Juve News Live.

On the other hand, the Bianconeri fans would hardly agree with him, as they organized a protest in front of the team's hotel because of Juventus' poor results embodied in the two aforementioned eliminations and only the fifth spot in Serie A.

Motta was not spared from criticism and even insults, as the protesters called him "a piece of s**t." Given that no one from the club reacted, the protest will probably continue tonight at the game against the Gialloblu, so the Italian gaffer will be in for a tough time despite being so full of himself.
