Sevilla's sports director expects the captain of Los Blancos to extend his contract with the club
Recently, rumours have been spreading that Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos might be returning to his former club, Sevilla. Allegedly, it was mentioned that the club from Andalusia is offering Ramos quite a sum to come back and lead the team from the backline.
However, the sports director of Sevilla, Ramon Monchi, said in an interview for Sky Sports that he does not believe Ramos will leave Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. At least not yet.
Monchi revealed that Ramos is still having talks with Real Madrid over a contract extension.
When asked if Sevilla was going to sign Ramos as a free agent, the widely respected sporting director was clear.
“He’s a Real Madrid player. I think he’s in talks with Real Madrid now to extend his contract, that’s all I can say,” said Monchi.
The fact that Ramos hasn’t signed an offer sheet for any other club yet suggests that the two parts involved in his extension will likely strike a deal.
Ramos - who was left out of the Euro 2020 Spain squad has two weeks left on his current Real Madrid contract.

The 35-year-old center-back decided to accept the possibility of signing a single-year extension and the latest reports published on Spanish media indicate that Ramos and Real Madrid could reach some kind of agreement.
With Ramos probably out of the picture, Monchi was asked about other targets on club's wish list.
The media brought Sevilla in contact with Gian Marco Ferrari from Sassuolo and Samu Castillejo from Milan, but as it looks - the two will not wear red and white next season either.
"Ferrari is a good player, but we are not negotiating with him. The same goes for Castillejo, we have a lot of players in his position ".
The one who will for sure be at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium next season is Papu Gomez.
“Papu is happy here and we are happy about him, I think his journey here has just begun.", said Monchi.
