AFC Leopards made a step towards clinching their first official trophy since 2017 by defeating Shabana FC 1-0 in a Mozzart Bet Cup match staged at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.
Ingwe assistant captain Kaycie Odhiambo on his return from Malawi with the national team scored the vital goal for the Big Cats to end Tore Bobe’s journey in the domestic cup.
Ezekiel Omuri and Matthew Tegisi had a chance to take Shabana ahead but failed to capitalize on their chances with Levis Opiyo's reflexes tipping the ball over the woodwork for a corner that the Glamour boys failed to utilize.
After missing to score in the third minute, Shabana was lucky to survive Mousa Oundo’s long-range effort and Ken Owino’s header that forced Fredrick Otinda into an acrobatic save to keep the match tied at the break.
Immediately after the restart, Ingwe came more energized dictating play for the better part of the opening five minutes which bore fruits in the 57th minute with Odhiambo scoring from a tight angle to give Leopards the lead.
Kevin Kimani and Victor Omune had chances to kill the game but their efforts flew over the bar while Dennis Ongeri and Rodgers Aloro's attempts to get an equalizer and send the match to the penalties were unsuccessful with Opiyo commanding his area to secure Ingwe’s passage to the next round.
With the win, the Leopards will clash against the Division One side Compel SC who defeated Mara Sugar 2-0 at the same venue to book a space in the quarter-finals.

Issa Lumumba had given Ulinzi the lead inside the opening 2 minutes with his long-range shot leaving Sebastian Wekesa hapless in the Sharks post.
Mark Bikokwa would have doubled the military side tally eight minutes later but his shot inside the penalty area went inches wide before Sharks through Fortune Omotto levelled matters in the 20th minute.
The first half ended with both sides tied at 1-1.
The second half was more of a balanced affair with both sides having an equal share of the ball but it was the Sharks who laughed last with a goal in the 80th minute to seal their passage to the last eight where they will clash against the winner between Assad and Denmark FC.
