Oliver Majak's early goal proved to be the winner in the tough encounter played in Kisumu

Defending Mozzart Bet Cup champions Kakamega Homeboyz stormed into the last eight of this year's edition of the competition after edging Tusker FC by a soliatry goal in a close encunter staged in Kisumu on Saturday afternoon.

Oliver Majak rose highest to head in John Omondi's cross on 12 minutes to score the decisive goal. The Brewers pushed for an equalizer and thought they had one on 85 minutes when Eric Otieno found the back of the net but the referee flagged it for offside.

Homeboyz tatcician thanked his charges for the win; "It has been a very tought match and I want to thank the players for the efforts. We scored early and defended the goal until the final whistle. I also want to thank the fans for the support. Tusker is a big team and I think they were the main obstacle in our title defense campaign. Now that we have eliminated them, the cup is ours to lose," he said.

He also reserved special praise for the goalscorer Oliver Majak; "He is a young player who is very displined and hardworking - I am happy he got the goal. I enjoy working with him since he takes instructions with ease and implements whatever you ask him to do."

Police FC 3-1 Mombasa Stars

At the Police Sacco Stadium in South C, Kenya Police FC also made it to the quarters after overcoming second-tier side Mombasa Stars 3-1. Alvin Mangeni grabbed a brace for the law enforcers with Ugandan International Tito Okello scoring the other. Stars' consolation was scored by Alvin Ngoto.
