Mundane Real Madrid succumb to frustration against defence-oriented Cadiz

Los Blancos win a single point at home against the underdogs (0-0)

No one saw that coming!

Real Madrid were predicted to trash Cadiz at home, let alone win the game and continue their a bit lonesome title chase.

However, the relegation-zone tenants produced a major upset, holding on to a goalless draw at Santiago Bernabeu stadium (0-0) in the last game of the La Liga weekend programme.

Carlo Ancelotti's squad sits comfortably at the summit but has ended their significant winning streak. The last time they failed to win at home was against Osasuna back in October. Moreover, another goalless draw proves that the Spanish giants find it almost impossible to win if they do not 'open' the visitors early in the game.

Benzema, Hazard, Kroos and Vinicius Jr. were trying to find the solution for Cadiz's defensive wall and - as a result suggests - crashed big time.

The Italian tactician tried with Jovic in the second half, but the increasing number of forwards didn't improve Real Madrid's offensive display.

The match ended in an unexpected stalemate which provides their title contenders with a glimpse of hope for the remainder of the season.
