Speaking after the loss to the league leaders, Odhiambo claimed Gor Mahia repeatedly took throw-ins from advanced positions away from where the ball had initially gone out, with his protests to the officials allegedly ignored throughout the contest.
One of Gor Mahia’s goals came from a set-piece situation, with Shariff Musa’s well-struck effort in the 52nd minute handing K’Ogalo the lead before they went on to seal all three points.
“That performance from the team was a good one, and according to how we planned,” said Odhiambo after the match.
“We had issues with how Gor Mahia approached their throw-ins because they were taking them far away from the exact position where the ball had gone out, and our complaints to the officials fell on deaf ears. It is good if the match officials lend a listening ear.”
Despite the frustrations, the former Harambee Stars midfielder admitted Gor Mahia’s attacking quality proved decisive, especially after Seal were forced into a defensive reshuffle following an injury setback.
“We also had to remove our left-back and opt to play a makeshift player, and Gor capitalised on that,” he added.
Still, the tactician remained encouraged by his side’s overall display, insisting the performance offered positive signs despite the result.
Seal have endured a difficult recent run, but Odhiambo believes the display against Gor Mahia could help restore confidence within the squad ahead of the final matches of the campaign.
“Lots of positives to pick from the game, though. I believe the team is gaining back their mojo to play confidently after a tough recent run, and I am happy with the performance and not the results,” he stated.
The victory saw Gor Mahia edge closer to the FKF Premier League title in what has become a tense battle against AFC Leopards.
Ingwe also secured victory over Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday, meaning the title race is now set to go down to the final two matches of the season.
