Victor Haki scored the first goal in the 29th minute before Jackson Imbiakha confirmed victory with an extra-time goal.
Speaking after the match, Monday said his decision to give the players freedom on the pitch has helped to bring out the best in them.
“Most of the teams in the league come to matches with a defensive mindset. I have allowed my players to express themselves on the pitch, and this has motivated them to show their best. This is how we have been getting results,” he said.
Monday further said his side should have won Saturday’s match by an even bigger margin.
“We had a slow start in the first half, and it affected our momentum in key moments of the match, denying us more goals,” he revealed.
He singled out David Munyuovi and goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor for their outstanding performance against United.
“They helped us to avoid conceding goals, something that would have turned the game around in our opponent’s favor,” he said.
Monday believes his team has what it takes to finish among the top teams in the league after two seasons that saw them fight for survival.
“It will be different this time around because we are motivated by the good results we have posted. We can start to believe in a better performance and finishing among the top teams.”
The last time Muranga Seal lost a match was on 26 October when they went down 1-0 to Tusker.
After that, they drew 2-2 with Posta Rangers, before beating KCB 2-1 at home.
They then picked draws against Kakamega Homeboyz , Kariobangi Sharks, AFC Leopards, Shabana and Nairobi United.
They finished the year with victories over Mara Sugar and Kenya Police FC.
