The Leopards midfielder netted in their 1-1 draw with FC Talanta

AFC Leopards defensive midfielder Daniel Musamali is in cloud nine after he finally blasted open his league and club goal account last weekend.

Musamali was on target when Ingwe surrendered their lead to eventually play debutants FC Talanta to a one-all draw last Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium. It took him only nine minutes to find the back of the net after Brian Wanyama laid the ball on his path.

The youngster who joined Leopards in September 2019 from St. Anthony's Boys, Kitale said he had been longing to activate the dormant goal account and deposit as many as he could, in a bid to help the club regain its lost glory.

Musamali who spend the whole of last season on loan to Nzoia Sugar said he was unlucky not to score in the past term but took pride in the assists he created.

"I am happy I got my first league goal, and my first for the club at the competitive level. I was under pressure although it's rare for combative midfielders to be on the scoresheet regularly. I came close last season while at Nzoia but I was unlucky, " he said.

Asked on why he didn't leave the dressing room for the second half, Musamali painfully said that he had not fully recovered from malaria and wasn't strong enough to play in the second stanzaHe was replaced by Saad Musa.

He said had the match been played on Saturday as earlier planned, he would not have made to the stands leave alone the starting team.

"I had a terrible week after I was diagnosed with malaria. The flu did not also spare me. The technical bench wanted to give me a rest but I felt I had the energy to run at least in an entire half. When we went for recess, I felt a little bit tired and requested to be rested, " he said.

He hopes he will be fully fit when they face Kakamega Homeboyz in their next match.
