Ngoto inked a two-year deal with the Dockers in July.

Mwatate United head coach Evans Mafuta has termed the exit of Alvin Ngoto a massive blow to the National Super League's plan to earn promotion to the top flight.

Mwatate lost their priced marksmen to Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Bandari, who went for his signature following his impressive goal returns in the 2022–23 season.

Ngoto was the third-best scorer in the NSL after scoring 17 goals. He finished behind Vihiga's Amos Kigadi and former SS Assad striker Beja Nyamawi in the golden boot race.

Mafuta admits that Ngoto left a big gap in the striking department but expressed hope of getting his replacement before the season starts.

"We will definitely miss him and his services. He was our reliable goal scorer last season. We would have wished to have him for longer," said Mafuta.

Mafuta joined Mwatate in June this year, replacing the Mark Asa-led technical bench that disbanded over a series of poor results.

The former Vihiga Bullets coach, who is currently taking the Confederation of African Football (CAF) B coaching course, said he will unveil the new players next week.

Mwatate conducted trials last month, with those who passed the tests being retained and monitored by Mafuta and his backroom staff.

"We will parade the new players next week. Those who did well in the trials are with us, and we are hoping to give them contracts, possibly on Thursday next week," he said.
