The verdict is expected to finally determine the fate of Match No. 132, which has remained unresolved for more than two months.
The fixture was played on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Dandora Stadium. Gor Mahia had taken the lead through Ebenezer Adukaw before Ovella Ochieng cancelled out the opener. Moments after Ochieng’s equaliser, chaos erupted in the stands. Crowd unrest escalated rapidly, raising safety concerns and forcing officials to abandon the match in the 58th minute.
On January 30, 2026, the Leagues and Competitions Committee of the Football Kenya Federation ruled that both teams be awarded one point each. Nairobi United moved to challenge that determination before the tribunal.
Through their representative, Nelson Odaya, the club filed a Memorandum of Appeal, a Notice of Motion, and a Supporting Affidavit, sworn on February 5 2026, under a certificate of urgency. The application prompted swift intervention from the tribunal.
In a ruling dated February 6, the SDT certified the matter as urgent after reviewing the appeal documents and issued a temporary injunction staying FKF’s January 30 decision in respect of the abandoned fixture. The tribunal also halted proceedings in FKF Disciplinary Case No. 05 of 2025 involving Football Kenya Federation versus Nairobi United FC pending mention and further directions.
The tribunal directed Nairobi United to serve all respondents and interested parties by 2 pm on February 9, while responses were to be filed by 5 pm on February 12. Owing to the urgency of the case oral submissions were allowed when the matter came up for hearing on February 13.
By freezing both the league decision and the related disciplinary process, the SDT effectively left the standings and disciplinary implications hanging.
All eyes now turn to Friday March 6 when the tribunal is expected to issue its final determination. The ruling could either uphold FKF’s decision to award one point each or significantly alter the outcome of one of the fixture.
Gor Mahia lead the FKF Premier League standings with 49 points after 22 rounds of games while Naibois, who have played 19 matches are tenth with 29 points.
