The two midfielders had individual battles when the reigning Mozzart Bet Cup champions hosted Tanzanian outfit Azam FC in a Confederation Cup match played on Sunday, 25 January, at the Nyayo National Stadium, with the Wana Lambalamba emerging 2-1 victors.
On-form Dancun Omala opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Jephte Kitambala equalised for Azam four minutes later, while an Ernest Mohammed 78th-minute own goal sealed the three points.

In midfield, it was a hard-fought battle between the experienced Fei Toto, valued at Ksh45 million by Transfermarkt, and Owino, who is in his debut season in the competition, leaving the Naibois' midfielder with plenty of lessons.

“It was a good game and a good battle. I enjoyed playing against such an experienced player, which also helped in rating myself as a player.
I have learnt a lot of things from him (Fei Toto), including but not limited to awareness, composure and playing with pace, aspects that will also help me in my career,” said Owino.
Naibois’ face a monumental task in their quarter-final qualification quest, having found themselves at the bottom of Group B with zero points, but Owino insists the belief is there, as long as there is a chance.

“We lost due to our missed chances and a lack of concentration in the team, especially at the back, but we take it as a team and will work hard to correct our defensive approach ahead of the next game. We will fight to the end,” he remarked.
