Newly promoted FKF Premier League side APS Bomet have set their sights on stability in their top-flight debut, with head coach Michael Nam confirming that experience was the central factor guiding their transfer business ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Nam, who assumed the reins in August following his departure from Gor Mahia, has already overseen a busy recruitment drive.

The tactician, well-versed in top flight league football having previously had stints at Gor Mahia and Vipers SC in Uganda, explained that the club deliberately targeted seasoned players to help them adapt quickly to life at the highest level.

Speaking after a pre-season friendly against Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, 6 September, Nam outlined the reasoning behind the signings.

"We deliberately brought in experienced players because we needed a squad that understands the demands of the Premier League. For us, the first objective is to remain in the top tier, and that will require guidance from players who have been here before. It is always tough for newcomers, but senior players will help us make the transition smoother,” he said.

The club’s new recruits include a trio of Sven Yidha, Hansel Ochieng, and Edwin Buliba from Nairobi City Stars alongside Francis Omondi and Brian Bulleti from Kakamega Homeboyz.

Other signings are Aziz Okaka from AFC Leopards, Enock Wanyama from Gor Mahia, Evans Maliachi from Bidco United, Rodgers Kipkemboi from Sofapaka, Alex Keke from FC Talanta and Sosthenes Idah from Clube Ferroviário de Lichinga in Mozambique

Despite losing 3-0 to 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup champions Kakamega Homeboyz in their weekend friendly, Nam was quick to highlight the positives from the encounter.

"Pre-season has been encouraging. The match against Homeboyz gave us a clear picture of where we are, and it showed we need to sharpen our defense and attack. Still, I am pleased with the squad we have assembled, and I believe we can look forward to a solid debut season,” he added.
