New AFC Leopards signing Samuel Ssenyonjo has made a bold statement ahead of the new season, declaring his ambition to score more than 30 goals and end the club's long wait for a major silverware.
The Ugandan striker is among nine players recruited by Leopards during the just-concluded transfer window.

With the club desperate to end a trophy drought that dates back to 2017, and a league title famine stretching as far back as 1998, the responsibility of delivering goals now rests heavily on his shoulders.
Supporters caught their first glimpse of Ssenyonjo’s potential on Sunday at Dandora Stadium, where Leopards defeated Zanzibar’s New Kings FC 4-2 in their opening pre-season friendly.
The forward came off the bench to score shortly after seeing an earlier effort ruled out for offside, offering fans a taste of what he could bring to Fred Ambani’s side this term.
Speaking after the game, Ssenyonjo explained why he chose to join the 12-time league champions, insisting the stature of the club made the decision straightforward.
“The history of the club is rich, and Leopards are one of the biggest teams in Kenya. I was excited to join a club with such ambitions, a club that wants to win every game, and that motivated me to come to Kenya,” he said.
The striker also revealed that he has quickly settled into life at the den, thanks to the warm welcome from his new teammates.
“My teammates have been very supportive throughout preseason. They have helped me settle, and right now I am comfortable and enjoying my time here.”
With preseason preparations in full swing, Ssenyonjo was clear about both his personal ambitions and the team’s overall objectives.
“The goal is to score as many goals as possible so that we can achieve something. The team’s objective is to win trophies, and my personal target is to score 30 goals or more.”
Should he succeed, he will break Elvis Rupia's record of scoring the most goals in a season in the Kenyan top tier.
Rupia found the back of the net 28 times in the 2022-2023 season with Kenya Police FC.
Leopards will open their FKF Premier League campaign against Sofapaka FC on 20 September, where all eyes will be on their new marksman to see if he can live up to his big promise.
