New allies Kane and Perisic tear down all-Portuguese Wolves

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 20.08.22. | 16:34

There were as many as seven Portuguese players in Wolverhampton's staring XI

Perisic to Kane against Chelsea - goal. Perisic to Kane against Wolverhampton - goal, again.

Obviously, we're witnessing the creation of a very mighty alliance between the Croatian midfielder and the English striker.

Two of them seem to have found ways to connect in the final third, saving the Spurs from a devastating outcome on both occasions.

Today, faced with a stubborn Wolves side comprised of as many as seven Portuguese players, Antonio Conte's boys dominated the possession in the first half but were nowhere near the opponents' box.

The Spurs struck for the first time around the 50th-minute-mark, following Kulusevski's narrow cross from the left, which found Kane near the six-yard box. That header was exquisite, the keeper left with no chance, but the woodwork saved the Wolves.

The same happened some ten minutes later as Kulusevski provided Son this time with a perfect pass, and the South Korean was slightly off the target.

And then - third time charm. A corner from the left, the ball found Perisic on the near post and his immaculate header glued on Kane on the far post. The Spurs striker took a bow and broke the deadlock for the win.

Conte couldn't be happier as he ordered his players to sit back and look to double the lead from possible counter-attacks, and Richarlison was so close near the end.

Anyhow, it remained 1-0 on the scoreboard for the second Spurs win in three games.
