The match started at a high pace with both teams employing long balls in a bid to get early goals.

Hernest Malonga created the first big chance in the fifth minute for Police when he laid in a cross but none of his teammates was near it to bury home.

In a game that had few chances, the next chance fell to Fabian Adikiny in the 42nd minute when he picked a ball outside the box, unleashed a shot that forced Daniel Ogembo into a save.

Police had shouts for a penalty in the 45th minute ignored when Yves Koutiama went down from a challenge from Francis Oduor, but the referee Silas Moti was not interested.

In the second half, Police introduced Alvin Mang’eni for David Okoth in a move aimed at unlocking their left wing.

The Law Enforcers almost broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Abud Omar took a free kick that missed the target.

The defending champions were not to be denied in the 62nd minute when Omar expertly laid a sumptuous cross that was done justice by Koutiama, who rose high to head home and break the deadlock.

Tusker responded with a series of attacks but they could only count for half chances as at the 70th minute.

Tusker pushed for an equalizer but it was not meant to be, as Police held on with their dear lives to secure an important win.

With the win, Police moved up to third on the log with 43 points as Tusker remained ninth with 37 points.
