The 2008 league champions are languishing deep in the red zone.
New Mathare United midfielder Dennis Monda has pledged to summon his experience and help the struggling club hold on its top flight status.
Mathare went for the services of the midfielder in the final days of the mid-season transfer window in a bid to inject some competition in the department and options in the remaining matches of the season.
The slum boys who dramatically beat relegation last season are deeply rooted in the red zone alongside Nzoia Sugar and Vihiga Bullets thanks to the poor run as the club has won thrice, drawn once and lost thirteen rounds.

In changes aimed at saving the club from sinking to the second tier, the management brought coach John Kamau who helped Posta Rangers evade the wrath of the axe in June 2019 to replace Ezekiel Akwana who threw in the towel.
The club strengthened its goalkeeping department by luring Richard Ebenyo from National Super League side Murang’a Seal who is expected to fill in the void left by Job Ochieng who joined the high spending Kenya Police FC.
Monda who boats of international experience having played in the Burundian league said he was familiar with the fight to beat relegation and fully understands its demands having featured for Vihiga United last season.

“I know how to handle the pressure that tags along with the fight to remain in the league. I have been in such a situation before and even though we did not succeed as a team, I picked lessons which I believe will help Mathare survive,” he said.
The midfielder who is hoping to score at least four goals and create more than eight in the meantime asked the fans to rally behind the team as they seek to restore the fast fading glory.
