New war in France: De Zerbi vs Rabiot's mom!

"I paid more attention to her son than mine" against "They are lying! As for the coach, the first to yell, to shout, to be violent, it's him!"

The media storm in France after Marseille decided to sell Adrien Rabiot following his fight with teammate Jonathan Rowe isn't dying down!

However, after the former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus midfielder and Olympique's sporting director, Medhi Benatia, we have two new participants in this "war" - L'OM boss, Roberto De Zerbi, and Rabiot's mother and representative, Veronique!

Namely, the player's mom was the first to speak out in an interview with La Provence, calling everyone at Marseille liars.

"What I can tell you is that I see the facts, the words: 'unheard-of violence, extreme violence.' It's very, very strong, in general, it means that there are injuries. Here, as far as I know, there were no split lips, no broken noses, no shattered eyebrows. No one is injured, no one went to the hospital, there wasn't even a doctor's intervention."

"We know very well that this is completely false. At the beginning, it wasn't even between Rowe and him, but between Rowe and Geronimo (Rulli). Pierre-Emile (Hojbjerg) and Adrien came to separate them. And then it went freestyle," Veronique Rabiot said.

Nevertheless, she didn't stop there, as she particularly called out the Italian gaffer, mentioning even Mason Greenwood and his personal problems.

"But all we heard... The coach who has never seen that, while he is always yelling and barking... And, then, he was shocked? There is nothing shocking, it happens in every locker room, it has already happened and it will happen again. The punishment is totally disproportionate. Everyone knows it, they are lying."

"It's a betrayal. As for the coach, the first to yell, to shout, to be violent, it's him! When (Mason) Greenwood signed after hitting his wife, De Zerbi said we could give him a second chance. I agree with giving people second chances, but is it only my son who doesn't get a second chance?"

Yet, Veronique Rabiot didn't have to wait long for De Zerbi's response, as the former Brighton manager touched on her words in today's press conference.

"Medhi Benatia really helped Adrien in his personal life and the things he needed. He went beyond his role as sporting director, so it's something that annoys me when his mother attacks the president and the sporting director."

"His mother forgot two things: I decided to make Adrien captain in Paris, I decided to watch the warm-up in Paris hugging the players. I defended her son. And in one year, I paid more attention to her son than to my son," De Zerbi stated via L'Equipe.

The situation at Stade Velodrome is still pretty intense, and Marseille's Ligue 1 second-round clash against the league's newcomers, Paris FC, is already coming up tomorrow (18.00). After the defeat to Rennes, which caused all the chaos in the first place, they don't have room for error.
