Zohan Mamdani, a self-confessed Arsenal fan gave a surprise prediction
New York mayor Zohan Mamdani was born in Kampala. He is a Muslim of Indian descent, and his family briefly moved from Uganda to South Africa when Zohran was five years old, before settling in New York City two years later. But it was obvious that this short period was enough to develop the love for football, which is usually not common among Americans, who prefer the american football (similar to rugby), basketball, hockey and baseball. Mamdani has spoken about how a trip to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa influenced his love for football. He was at Soccer City in Johannesburg supporting Ghana when they played Uruguay in the quarter-finals and said he cried in the stadium after Luis Suárez’s infamous handball swung the result. This year, he believes Ghana will advance to the knockouts as the third-place team in Group I and fall to Colombia in the Round of 32. But what about the finals?
Mamdani, a well-known Arsenal fan, was interviewed by Guardian, who asked him to predict every game at the World Cup and according to his answers, the computer simulated elimination round pair, which he also predicted. Believe it or not – New York mayor thinks that Morocco will defeat France in the finals, thus becoming the first African team to win the World Cup! Mamdani confessed that his choice was not a completely rational one, but came from the heart as well. In fact, Mamdani even favorized Morocco, as he predicted they will finish above Brazil in the group stage, and then defeat Netherlands, Senegal, Mexico and Colombia and on their way to the final. Surprisingly, Mamdani predicted that DR Congo will finish last in their group, even below football minors such as Uzbekistan.
