Ngotho set to return to active football next month

Posta Rangers assistant captain Suleiman Ngotho is aiming at returning to active football next month once he recovers from a knee injury.

Ngotho suffered the setback in their final league fixture of the past season against Ulinzi Stars and has been recuperating under the watch of the club doctor and physiotherapists.

The central defender who has been wearing the armband in the absence of Joseph Mbugi revealed that he was scheduled to begin his rehabilitation program in two weeks time and resume training later.

Ngotho said that he was working on his body fitness and will embark on strengthening the affected knee as soon as the doctor gives him the go-ahead.

"The earliest I can play competitive football is next month. I have been doing gym work to keep fit and will start my rehabilitation after two weeks and later start full training," he disclosed.

With Ngotho and Kevin Ouma who were the preferred pair at the heart of the defence for the better part of last season unavailable in matchday one, coach Stanley Okumbi picked Faina Jacobs and Kennedy Owino to man the central defence.

Their performance procured praises from Ngotho who observed that he will have to work his socks off to displace one of them. Rangers lost the promising Ouma to Ulinzi Stars before the season began.

"They did well on the first day despite not playing together for long. Owino was new in the team but he gave his best. For me to play, I will have to work hard as all the available central defenders at the club are up to the task," he remarked.

With the league set to enjoy yet another week-long break, the former Thika United man called on his teammates to use the breather to work on the weak areas and bag wins in the three fixtures lined up for them this month.

Rangers are set to confront debutants Vihiga Bullets in their next match and take on Kakamega Homeboyz and play Bandari away.
