Angelo Ogbonna suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Liverpool
West Ham coach David Moyes has confirmed that the Italian defender of Nigerian origins, Angelo Ogbonna, will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury he suffered against Liverpool on November 7.
The Hammers' centre-back was initially substituted due to a cut above his eye before subsequently feeling knee discomfort on the bench.
A scan the following day revealed damage to Ogbonna's anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The Hammers tactician David Moyes said:
"We think surgery for Angelo will take place over the next couple of days, and it's really sad because he's a great team player, and his performances have been great.
"I think it would be hard for Angelo to be back this season."

Ogbonna, 33, has been there for West Ham since leaving Juventus in 2015. He has scored 13 goals in 202 cup and league appearances and finished runner-up for the Hammer of the Year award in 2020.
He has played in all 11 of West Ham's Premier League games so far this season. He has helped them climb to third in the table.
