Nigerian teenager saves Milan from mysery: modest Pisa were seconds away from San Siro miracle

The side led by ex-Rossoneri striker Alberto Gilardino bounced back following Rafael Leao's opener, but couldn't hold onto the lead until the end (2-2)

AC Milan's night turned sour at San Siro as they were held to a shocking 2-2 draw by bottom club Pisa - two precious points slipping from Massimiliano Allegri's grasp.

Moreover, the underdogs - still without a single Serie A win since the start of the season - were seconds away from a shocking victory, before the Swiss player of Nigerian descenet, Zakhary Athekame, saved the home side.

And it all started perfectly for the Rossoneri. Within seven minutes, Rafael Leao found space on the edge of the box and placed a precise finish into the far corner, continuing his succesful streak after that brace last week.

Milan controlled the game, dominated possession, and seemed fully in charge before the break, but missed chances proved costly. Pisa, led by former Milan striker Alberto Gilardino, held on, regrouped, and struck back after the restart when Juan Cuadrado calmly converted from the spot following a handball confirmed by VAR.

The goal rattled Milan. Allegri's side pushed to restore their lead - Leao hit the bar this time, Saelemaekers tested Semper, and Nkunku headed just over. However, the visitors refused to crumble.

And then came the twist: Nzola stunned San Siro with a late strike to put Pisa ahead. Deep into added time, 20-year-old Athekame rescued Milan with a close-range finish from Modric's pass, avoiding total disaster but not the frustration.

A night that began with dominance ended in disappointment. Milan remain top, but the cracks are showing, and Allegri knows it.
