Due to Financial Fair Play rules, the deal is all but canceled
Many Manchester United fans rejoiced when the information appeared that Harry Maguire was moving from Old Trafford. West Ham's offer of 35,000,000 euros was allegedly accepted, and all that was left for this deal to go through was personal terms between the defender and his future club. But that won’t happen. The English media reported that the transfer would not take place because, allegedly, the former Leicester stopper asked United for 8,000,000 euros to cover the difference in salary. And David Moyes got tired of waiting, so Magure stayed at the Theatre of Dreams.

Off course, as was expected, immediately after this, news came that both the player and the coach were happy. Maguire is apparently happy at the club and believes he will get plenty of opportunities to play during the season, while on the other side ‘sources’ close to Erik ten Hag was saying that the coach is happy that the player is staying since he sees him as an important member of the first team. That statement, however never stood the test of time, since Ten Hag had an opportunity to bring in Maguire at halftime of the Wolves match, but instead of Lisandro Martinez, he brought in Victor Lindelof.
So, West Ham is looking at other defensive targets, but United apparently won’t. With Maguire set to stay, the potential arrival of Benjamin Pavard is all but cancelled. The Red Devils wanted another defender, and the French international is a far better player than their former captain, but now there is no room (or money) for both of them. Pavard was keen on the move, and the precise observers saw that he was recently following Manchester United and Rapahel Varane on his social network profiles, but now that option is probably off the table. Sky Sports reports that there are FFP constraints in the absence of money United would have received from a Maguire sale. So, United fans will see their former captain play again at Old Trafford and won’t see Pavard because of him...
