The penultimate list of Seleção before the World Cup ruffled some feathers in the country of football
Brazilian coach Tite caused a storm with the list of the players he invited for the national team's September obligations, which represents the penultimate filter before the World Cup in Qatar. The biggest surprise is the absence of Gabriel Jesus, who is playing in life form in Arsenal, and there were also surprises in the back line of the team. By inviting Bremer, Tite practically extinguished the last hope of the Italians to attract the Juventus player to their national team, although the invitation of Roger Ibáñez from Roma is a much bigger surprise.
The two will battle it out for that final fourth spot when it comes to the shot-stopper positions, as the places are guaranteed to Militao, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva.
"Everyone should get a clear message: Do your best, be at the highest level in your clubs. That way we will have the best sense of justice during the final call-ups," Tite said.
Tite called only one right-back, Danilo, and the third call-up went to Pedro from Flamengo, who is perhaps the best player in the Brazilian Serie A at the moment. The excellent player was called up for the first time in 2018, after which he suffered a serious knee injury, and so far he has only 22 minutes in the national team.
"Pedro has already participated and played for the national team. Even before Richarlison got the call. People always comment and it's up to us to show the players that they have to be at their best. He is now the choice.", Tite added.
In addition to Pedro, Everton Ribeiro and Roberto Firmino are also returning, while there is no place for Philippe Coutinho in addition to Jesus, which is somewhat less of a surprise. Roger Ibáñez settled in Roma in the past period, and Tite apparently decided to mobilize players a little before the final roster to further raise the level of play in their clubs.
On September 23, the Brazilians play against Ghana in Le Havre, and four days later against Tunisia at Parc des Princes. These will be their last friendly matches before the start of the World Cup and the match against Serbia on November 24.
