Mwakuluma was dismissed on Sunday, July 27, through a strongly-worded letter addressed to club stakeholders.
The National Super League (NSL) side advised the public and partners against engaging with him, but stopped short of stating the reasons behind his immediate suspension from all club affairs.
In an exclusive interview with Mozzart Sport, the certified engineer expressed disappointment at how the club treated him despite his personal sacrifices.
“I don’t understand why they are trying to tarnish my name. I’ve done a lot for the team,” Mwakuluma said.
“When I took over in January 2014, the club was on life support—no players, no money, no balls, no training ground. It was completely lifeless.”
Mwakuluma revealed that since taking over officially as chairman in 2024, he had been using his own resources to keep the club afloat.
Particularly after the team exhausted its Ksh 2 million annual sponsorship from oil firm Rubis by the fifth week of the season.
“Rubis usually gives the team Ksh 2 million per season, but by game week five the funds were depleted.
From there until game week 25, I had to step in and pay out of pocket,” he explained.
“I took care of players’ house rent, allowances, and daily needs, all from my own money.”
Sources within the club allege that Mwakuluma’s dismissal stemmed from suspicions of match manipulation, particularly after the team lost momentum in the race for promotion despite a strong start.
But the administrator rejected those claims, attributing the dip in form to the mid-season departure of their key forward, Donald Ange, to an FKF Premier League club.
“When Donald said he wanted to leave, I called a meeting and asked our office to rally fans to contribute so we could keep him.
No one heeded the call. Once we lost Ange, our goal-scoring dried up, and we started to struggle,” he noted.
For now, he says he is stepping away from football to focus on his professional career and business.
“I’m done with the game for now. I’ll put my energy into building my company and moving forward.”
