The encounter, scheduled for a 3.00 pm kickoff at Thika Stadium, brings together two teams separated by just four points, with Kabati Youth rooted in 19th place on 11 points, while Soy United sit just above the relegation zone in 16th position with 15 points from 11 matches.

Kabati, who are competing in the second tier after winning the FKF Division One Zone A title, will be chasing only their third win of the campaign, and a third consecutive match without defeat, a run that has offered signs of progress in a difficult debut season.

Under the guidance of head coach Haji Balil, the Thika-based side comes into the fixture off a goalless draw away to Nzoia Sugar, a result that followed a morale-boosting 2-0 home victory over Kisumu All Stars.

Much of Kabati’s optimism is anchored on their home form, which has been their most reliable source of points this season.

They have suffered just one home defeat, a loss to Nairobi City Stars, while picking up wins against Kisumu All Stars and Kibera Black Stars and sharing the spoils with MCF, MOFA, and Vihiga United, a run that has made Thika Stadium a difficult venue for visiting sides.

Soy United, on the other hand, arrives in Thika having endured an inconsistent campaign that has seen momentum come and go.

The Jeffers Odongo-coached outfit has managed only one win in their last three league outings, although they will draw confidence from a dramatic late 1-0 victory over MCF in Eldoret, a result that followed a narrow defeat to Fortune Sacco and a goalless draw against Vihiga United.

Away from their ASK Eldoret Grounds base, the Blue Eagles have struggled to impose themselves, remaining winless in six away fixtures.

During that period, they have suffered defeats to Fortune Sacco, Darajani Gogo, FC Talanta, and Naivas, while managing to grind out draws against MOFA and Kisumu All Stars, a record that shows their vulnerability on the road.

With both teams hovering dangerously close to the relegation places, the stakes could hardly be higher.

A victory for Kabati Youth would lift them out of the drop zone for the first time this season, and move them up to 16th place, while three points for Soy would open up some breathing space by pushing them to 12th on 18 points.
