At Thika Stadium, debutants Kabati Youth will be seeking their maiden league win when they face Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) in what promises to be a closely contested affair.
Since earning promotion, Kabati Youth have endured a rough start to life in the second tier, failing to register a win in their opening four matches.
Their campaign began with a 1-1 draw against Vihiga United but has since spiraled into a string of defeats, including 3-1 to Equity Bank, 1-0 to Nairobi City Stars, and 2-1 against Luanda Villa over the weekend.
The poor run has left the Murang’a-based outfit rooted to the foot of the 20-team standings, prompting the management to part ways with head coach Paul Mungai.
Reports indicate that Coach Haji Bilal will take charge on an interim basis as the club seeks stability and a change in fortunes.
A win against MOFA would lift Kabati to four points, potentially propelling them to mid-table, level with Equity, Gucha, Soy, MCF, and Luanda Villa, a significant boost for a side desperate to kickstart their campaign.
Standing in their way, however, is a determined MOFA side looking to reignite their early-season momentum.
The Homabay-based outfit began strongly but has gone two matches without a win, suffering a 1-0 loss to Kibera Black Stars before settling for a goalless draw with Darajani Gogo last weekend.
The slip has seen Coach Charles Bruno’s charges drop to seventh on seven points, six adrift of leaders Migori Youth.
A win at Thika would elevate MOFA to fourth on ten points, keeping them firmly in contention at the top end of the table.
With both teams eyeing redemption and this being their first-ever meeting, fans can expect a spirited and entertaining contest as the two sides battle for crucial points.

Over at Vapour Grounds, Darajani Gogo hosts Nairobi City Stars in another high-stakes encounter as both sides aim to return to winning ways.
Gogo are yet to taste victory this season, having lost 1-0 to 3K FC on opening day before settling for a barren draw against MOFA.
The results have left Coach Andrew Ongwae’s side languishing second from bottom, and they will be desperate to collect maximum points and climb out of the danger zone.
Their opponents, Nairobi City Stars, will equally be on a mission to bounce back following a narrow 3-2 defeat to Kibera Black Stars last weekend.
Before that, the Kawangware-based side had recorded back-to-back 1-0 victories over Kabati Youth and Luanda Villa, showcasing flashes of the form that earned them Premier League status in previous seasons.
Head coach Salim Babu will be urging his charges to quickly dust off the weekend’s setback and reignite their promotion push.
A win over Gogo would take City Stars to nine points, moving them closer to league leaders Migori Youth and keeping their FKF Premier League return ambitions alive.
Both fixtures are scheduled for at 3:00 PM kick-off.
