Mathare United are still at the helm of the log with 26 points from 11 matches
Mara Sugar have thrown the promotion race wide open after moving to within three points of league leaders Mathare United their 3-0 win over Gusii at Awendo Green Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The millers went ahead in the 5th minute with Brian Ochieng heading home from a Ruben Mita cross. Midfielder David Owino's powerful header in the 45th minute gave the sugar men a deserved lead heading to the breather.
Ochieng completed his brace in the 58th minute to take the game beyond Gusii reach and collect all points for the millers.
The win maintained Mara's second place on the log while Gusii dropped to sixteenth.
Mbaraki double header
At Mbaraki Sports Club, home fans were treated to a spectacular double header with Mombasa Stars leaving it late to stun Kisumu All Stars 3-2. Mombasa Elite suffered yet another defeat falling 1-2 to visiting Nairobi United.
Joel Kihara bagged a brace for Mombasa Stars with Abdulrahman Manyima completing the scoring for the team while Arnold Akodhe and Micheal Karamor netted for Otenga.
Despite the defeat, Kisumu maintained their fourth place on the log, two points ahead of eighth-placed Mombasa Stars.
Kajiado FC 0-2 Naivas FC
At Ildamat Stadium, Naivas FC dispatched Kajiado FC 2-0 to keep their place in the promotion chasing pack with goals from Brian Ouru and Peter Waithaka settling the duel.
MCF FC 1-1 Luanda Villa
In Machakos, Kevin Omundi scored in injury time to salvage a point for Mully Children Family FC as they played a one all draw against Luanda Villa.
Gogo 1-0 Dimba Patriots
Darajani Gogo scored at death to beat a stubborn Dimba Patriot 1-0 at Vapor Grounds. Lonny Amdava scored the lone goal
The win lifted Gogo to sixth on the log with 18 points from 11 games.
