On Tuesday morning, speculation from Sudi Stadium indicated that the former Muhoroni Youth tactician had parted ways with the Sugar Millers just eight matches into the National Super League (NSL) campaign.

According to those reports, assistant coach Peter Gin had taken charge of the team’s morning training session, with sources claiming that Odero had been sent on compulsory leave.

However, Kadenge has moved to clear the air, confirming that the coach had simply taken a short personal break and would soon rejoin the team.

The coach asked to go see his family, and I couldn’t stand in his way. He will be back with the team soon,” said the veteran administrator when speaking to Mozzart Sport.

Kadenge also addressed growing concerns about alleged match manipulation within the domestic scene, revealing that the club had formally reached out to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to investigate suspicious betting activities.

We have seen some funny betting patterns being spoken about. As a club, we have written to FKF and invited them to conduct proper investigations. Anyone found culpable will carry their own cross,” he added.

In a separate interview, coach Odero expressed frustration over his team’s continued struggles in front of goal, attributing their poor run to a lack of composure among his forwards.

Nzoia Sugar have now drawn five consecutive matches, the latest being a 2–2 stalemate against Mombasa United on Sunday at Sudi Stadium.

We’ve had issues converting our chances. This week, we worked on finishing, and our strikers tried hard and managed to score two goals,” said Odero.

The coach further noted that inclement weather during Sunday’s game disrupted his team’s momentum and focus.

We played really well, but the momentum was disrupted by the rain. Our players lost concentration after taking a brief break,” he added.

Despite the string of draws, Odero remains upbeat and confident that his side will soon rediscover their winning rhythm.

We’ve learned from our mistakes and will focus on improving in all departments ahead of our next match against Kisumu All Stars,” he said.

After six matches, Nzoia Sugar have managed one win and five draws, collecting eight points.

The Sugar Millers will now be aiming to end their drawing streak and revive their push up the NSL standings.
