Nairobi City Stars head coach Salim Babu has expressed satisfaction with the progress his team is making in the National Super League, saying the squad is steadily improving with every training session and match.
City Stars, fondly known as Simba wa Nairobi, were on the verge of folding earlier this year after club owner and sponsor Jonathan Jackson withdrew his financial support.

However, a group of well-wishers stepped in to rescue the club, allowing Babu to assemble a squad just two weeks before the start of the new season.
Despite the rushed preparations, City Stars have made an encouraging start.
They began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss to MOFA FC but bounced back strongly with back-to-back 1-0 wins over Luanda Villa and Kabati Youth.
The two victories from three matches have earned them six points, a promising return given the turbulent build-up to the season.
For Babu, the start has been positive, though he believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.
“Getting two wins out of three, I think, is a good start for us,” Babu said. “I am happy with the players because they are giving their best despite the fact that we did not have much time to prepare. They have shown great commitment to the cause, and I am really proud of them so far.”
The Kenya U20 coach emphasized the need for continued development, noting that progress in training and consistency in performance will be key to achieving long-term success.
“What I want to see is progress going forward,” he explained. “The goal as a coach is to help the team improve with every training session and every match. We need to grow both individually and collectively, and that will be crucial as the season moves on.”
Asked about his target for the season, the soft-spoken tactician said the team is taking one game at a time.
“We are not looking too far ahead,” Babu said. “Right now, the focus is on winning each game we play, collecting as many points as possible, and seeing where that takes us at the end of the season. What matters is giving 100 percent every time we step onto the pitch.”
City Stars will return to action against Kibera Black Stars after the seven-day mourning period for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga comes to an end.
