Kevin Juma missed Nzoia's previous clash due to suspension.

Nzoia Sugar FC have been handed a timely boost ahead of their Sunday afternoon Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash against Mathare United as Kenyan international Kevin Juma is expected back in the starting eleven.

In Juma’s absence for The Millers in their first game after the league’s restart, Nzoia suffered the consequences of missing his ability to break up play when AFC Leopards condemned them to a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a Caleb Olilo strike.

Nzoia head coach Ibrahim Shikanda however revealed that the player who recently got his maiden call up to the national team and took part in the concluded Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Kenya will be back to plug any holes when Nzoia try to prevent Mathare from doing a league double over them.

“Kevin Juma had accumulated a total of five yellow cards which meant he had to sit out our game against AFC Leopards. We will have him back in our game against Mathare,” he revealed.

Shikanda, whose team find themselves in the bottom half of the table and not far from the relegation places, also expressed his ambition to pick up points from Mathare United, points that will crucially propel his side from their current position and further away from the drop zones.

“I am preparing my team to win. It is a crucial encounter taking place at our home ground and our focus is on getting the three points to help us move out of the place we find ourselves in,” he said.

Nzoia will come into the match cautiously knowing that Mathare United will be inspired to get something from them as they are the only side to have given The Slum Boys all the three points this season.

The match kicks off at 1500 EAT at Sudi Stadium, Bungoma.
