MUFYA FC had a clean record in the group stages, making their way out without losing
MUFYA FC are into the semifinals of the Patrick Oboya Cup after edging out South C United in the second quarterfinal by a solitary goal.
Having gone through the group stage without losing a game, MUFYA started the game strongly seeking to keep their clean record but had to wait towards the latter stages of the first half to find the back of the net.
South C United were cautious in their approach in tbe first half, making no real threat to the hosts for much of the opening stages.
The all-important goal came in the 42 minute when Blaire Onyango rose up higher than anyone else to head home a Jumol Serero cross from a corner and give MUFYA the lead with just three minutes left in regular time.

"I feel very happy that I have been able to help my team book a spot in the semifinal. As a team we are always ready and we will go into the semi with the final in mind. I thank Mozzartbet and Patrick Oboya for this tournament as it is helping the young people stay away from crime," the goal scorer said.
Upon resumption, South C United came back a re-energized side as they sought to grab an equalizer that would get them back into contention for a semifinal spot.
They stringed a couple of attacks with Mohammed Hussein being on the end of a number of them but MUFYA's custodian stood firm in goal to protect the lead.
Apart from the goal, Onyango put up a brilliant performance in the middle of the park, helping the team move forward and defend when need be. Mika Mathenge had a chance at goal when MUFYA's defence failed to deal with a low cross in the box but the forward feeble shot was picked up by Stima in goal.
That would be the last action for Mathenge as he was withdrawn and his place taken up by Patrick Mulinge moments later. A desperate South C United resorted to sending the ball forward all the time but that never paid off in the end. MUFYA will face Team Ping in the first semifinal on Sunday from noon at the same venue.
