Offer $540 million for Osimhen, and we'll probably think about it!

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis shot down the Saudis

Last season, Napoli won the Serie A title after a long wait, and it's mostly thanks to goals from their Nigerian superhero goalscorer Victor Osimhen. The powerful forward scored 26 league goals as the team from Campagna romped to the Scudetto.

As is the case with just about every player on the planet, Saudi clubs have shown interest in the African.

The offer made from the Middle East wasn't a joke either. Al-Hilal offered $216 million (that's €200 million) for the former LOSC Lille attacker. And the eccentric Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis made a mockery of that bid.

"With your offer, you could only buy one Osimhen's foot. Come back in 2024 and offer $540 million for him, and we'll probably think about it."

Osimhen was apparently an option for "the Real Madrid of Arabia", but not even they wouldn't pay more than half a billion dollars for a player. Well, at least not for the time being. Instead, they signed Neymar and Aleksandar Mitrovic, which isn't a bad alternative.

Osimhen remains at Napoli for now. He has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year, but both clubs have gone for cheaper options - Goncalo Ramos and Rasmus Hojlund, respectively.

The man whose one foot is worth $216 million has already scored three goals in as many Serie A fixtures this season.
