Gor rookie set to begin hunting Swedish Visa on Friday

After writing his final Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KSCE) examinations, Gor Mahia rookie Benson Omala has embarked on chasing the Swedish visa ahead of his loan move to FC Linkoping City.

The youngster did his final examination paper on Monday at the Kisumu Day High School and arrived in Nairobi on Thursday morning ready to hunt for the travelling document. He is scheduled to pay the Swedish Embassy a visit on Friday alongside his manager Stephen Ochiel.

Omala secured the nine-month loan move to the Division One club in March who are understood to be eager to make the move permanent if he impresses.

The 20-year old earned a move to Gor at the start of the season from Western Stima where he had netted nine goals in his maiden season in the top flight.

Omala who is anticipating to be among the best performing students when the results are out expressed hope that he will join his teammates at Linkoping in the coming weeks.

My manager and I will be heading to the Swedish embassy on Friday to apply for the visa. I am looking forward to joining my new team in the shortest time possible,” he disclosed.

The youngster who was part of the national U20, Rising Stars team which reached to the semifinals of the 2020 edition of the CECAFA tournament held in Arusha, is eager to grab the opportunity and cement a permanent stay at the club.

Omala is hoping his Swedish sojourn will be a success and will set him up for a move to the English Premier League in the near future.

I hope to be in Sweden for at least a season and a half. This will help me settle adapt to life abroad and focus on achieving the team’s goals as well as that of self,” he concluded.
