Gogo are preparing for their second season in the Super League
Darajani Gogo assistant coach Andrew Ongwae has dismissed a suggestion indicating that the exit of the duo of Stanley Wilson and Nicholas Omondi is a massive blow to the National Super League club.
Gogo lost the two enterprising midfielders to top flight clubs with Kariobangi Sharks signing Wilson while Omondi joined four-time champions Ulinzi Stars.
Wilson’s move to Sharks will see him debut in the top-flight next season while for Omondi, it will be his third stint in the competition as he, has previously played for Gor Mahia and Sharks.
The two creative midfielders played a massive role for Gogo in the 2022-2023 season, their first in the Super League.
Ongwae said they had lined up equally talented players who will fill the gaps left by the duo.
“Their exit is positive news for us as our aim is to develop players to be ready for new challenges and greener pastures. We have quality replacements whose talent will shock many. Their exit will also create room for new players to showcase their talent,” he said.
Wilson has a glimpse of what awaits him at the highest level as he tasted action against top teams in the second edition of the Elite Pre-season Cup.
Gogo also their last season’s top scorer Rashid Moyo who joined Murang’a Seal.
Further, the Kibra based club watched their centre back Brian Wanyonyi join FC Talanta.
Ongwae tipped the four players to thrive in the top flight despite three of them being new to the stage.
“I am sure they will succeed in the top division. Nicholas is readymade as he has the experience and has also played in regional matches with the junior national teams. The rest will blend in as they are fast learners,” added the tactician.
