Bayer Leverkusen thump Eintracht Frankfurt away 5-1 to continue their road to eternity

They are just five games far away from eternity!

Bayer Leverkusen's 5-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday afternoon means the Bundesliga club are now 48 games unbeaten across all competitions (drawing just eight games during the process!).

The newly-crowned Bundesliga champions were led by Xabi Alonso's assistant from the dugout since the Spaniard was suspended after picking up his fourth yellow card in the recent 2-2 draw against Stuttgart last weekend. The former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder watched the game in the press tribune, and was seen smilling due to another amazing performance of his ruthless machine.

Ex-Arsenal's mainstay Granit Xhaka opened the scoring before Hugo Ekitike equalised. However, that was the hosts' last praiseworthy moment of the entire match, as the visitors stormed to a brutal 5-1 win.

Patrik Schick put his side back in the lead seconds before the break, before Exequiel Palacios, Jeremie Frimpong and Victor Boniface put the game beyond any doubt in the second half.

Leverkusen await AS Roma in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final on Thursday. They are the favourite to win that one and are expected to hold on to their flawless streak in the Bundesliga fixtures against Bochum and Augsburg, as well as in a DFB Pokal final against Kaiserslautern at the end of May.
