Posta Rangers centre-back Christopher Oruchum believes that coach John Kamau is ripe to add a feather to his longstanding coaching career by clinching a title in the near future.

Kamau is among the fairly experienced tacticians in the Kenyan top flight who are yet to inspire a team to claim a major title throughout the years he has coached at the top level.

Although he hasn’t handled a basketful of clubs in the top tier like most of his peers and seniors, Oruchum feels that time is due for the tactician to ice his coaching cake with a title.

Oruchum said all indicators pointed to the CAF A coaching course license holder winning a title soon given the success he has realised with Posta since rejoining the club in August 2022.

Presently, Rangers are currently genuine title contenders this season and have been playing attractive football.

Known for his affinity for young talents, Kamau has besides tutoring Rangers on three occasions in the top tier handled Mathare United and the defunct Thika United.

“It is clear that he is on course to ice his coaching career with a title. The results he has been posting with Posta attest to his desire to win something in the near future,” said the defender while praising Kamau’s brand of football.

For starters, Kamau is the tactician credited for introducing Oruchum to the top tier at a tender age during his time at Thika he signed the defender in 2012 at a time when he was a form two student at Chavakali Boys’ High School.

The pair reunited at Posta in the concluded mid-season transfer window after the former AFC Leopards man joined the mailmen on a short-term deal from Tanzanian Premier League side Namungo FC.

Oruchum says when Kamau’s call came, it was no brainer for him to take the deal offered by Posta.

I had not played under him for close to ten years but the foundation he gave me and his philosophy were enough to convince me to join Posta Rangers,” said Oruchum who was acquired to fill in the void left by Kennedy Owino who joined Leopards.

Meanwhile, the league winner with Tusker in the 2020-2021 season said Kenyan football was on a steady rise in recent times.

He claimed that the increase in number of live matches, gradual return of fans to stadia, and the appeal the game is having to new fans are some of the indicators of growth.
