Owino hopeful of hitting double digits after netting brace in first start

After marking his first start in a league match in more than two years with a brace, KCB winger Kennedy Owino intends to build on the performance he had last weekend against Bidco United and hit double digits in the season.

Owino deposited two goals in his account last Saturday when the bankers beat Bidco 2-1 at Thika Stadium to return to winning ways after dropping points in round four.

The winger who rejoined KCB in July from Wazito last started a league game in 2020 against Kariobangi Sharks, a duel that ended sourly as he tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligaments.

The Nakuru born player would undergo surgery although belatedly in May 2021 further side lining him from what he loves to do best.

Owino who was cleared for competitive football in February this year says netting a brace in his first start of the season was a sign of good things to come.

"I would not have wished for a better result and individual performance in my first start of the season like it was against Bidco. The goals will go a long way in inspiring me to keep on pushing myself for in order to help the club win the league title," he said.

His performance against the Thika based club also procured him praises from coach Zedekiah Otieno who encouraged him to keep on working hard.

" He was with us sometimes back before moving to Wazito where he suffered a bad injury. I am happy he has scored in his first start of the season. I think he last started a league match two years ago and it is encouraging to see him scoring goals," he said
