Thilo Kehrer is the answer to West Ham's injury crisis at the back
Paris Saint Germain's new boss, Christophe Galtier, knows what he wants and is even more particular about what he doesn't like. German-Burundian defender Thilo Kehrer is firmly in the unwanted camp. That's why the champions of France are willing to take a considerable loss and allow the versatile star to move to West Ham United for around $16 million.
The 25-year-old former Schalke starlet joined the Parisians for $40 million in 2018 as potentially the best centre-back in the world. However, he largely failed to live up to the hype. However, it's not to say that Kehrer is a bad player - and the Irons' boss David Moyes agrees. After his team lost to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, he confirmed to the press that talks for Kehrer are progressing.

The east London club needs the German international after the recent signing Nayef Aguerd suffered an ankle injury in pre-season.
The German-born player's mother is Burundian, and Thilo strives to make a difference in the African country. Recently, he opened a youth centre that will focus on culture and sport.
"The idea is to give opportunities to young Burundians to help them develop in different areas: in their creativity, their desires, their sharing, and different values that are important in life. And that is where the centre wants to go."
Sevilla were also very keen on signing Thilo Kehrer from PSG this summer, but the 25 year old only wanted to join West Ham.

It's an admirable gesture for the player who will now face the challenge of establishing himself in a more competitive league than Ligue 1 - and quick! Kurt Zouma remains West Ham's only fit centre-back, with young Ben Johnson slotting in alongside the Frenchman in the opening two games of the Premier League season.
With Brighton visiting the London Stadium this Sunday, there's a strong chance that Kehrer could be signed by then. West Ham are also playing a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying match against Danish side Viborg this Thursday, a fixture the defender will probably watch in the flesh.
