Guardiola's boys were two goals down at home against Villa, but a late second-half storm saved the favourites from the approaching catastrophe. Liverpool beat Wolves, but it wasn't enough. Burnley are relegated

Manchester City have defended the Premier League title after a breathtaking comeback against Aston Villa after being two goals down with only 20 minutes left on the clock!

Ilkay Gundogan buried a brace, while Rodri added another in the span of only six minutes (!) to turn the tables thoroughly.

Pep Guardiola celebrated like a child on the sidelines, and the ecstatic players and fans joined each other in a joyful ceremony.

A final matchday thriller that resembled a bit that one ten years ago against QPR - when Aguero scored a stoppage-time title decider - ended in a deserved victory for the host.

On the other hand, Liverpool managed to come back from behind also, at Anfield against the Wolves, 3-1. However, that was enough just for the runners-up spot, as City collected a single point more than their contenders.

What a drama, what a thrill that was! There's probably nothing like that in the contemporary sport as exciting as the Premier League final matchday.

Liverpool conceded after only three minutes, and at that moment, it seemed City are the new champions. They were bulldozing Villa at the Etihad but simply couldn't find ways to unlock Olsen's doors. The time was passing, but when Mane equalized 24 minutes into the game, a glimpse of hope arrived on the shore.

The tensions were rising among the Citizen fanbase as the news coming from Anfield were worrying enough, and their heroes looked unable to break the deadlock. But it was only a prelude to an inferno coming from around the corner. Nomen est omen, as the old Latin proverb says, and the one that brought it is no other than a guy called Cash.

Villa's player managed to score and shock home fans, adding some more salsa to the already super-spiced title race.

As if it wasn't enough, impeccable Coutinho made a mess in the second half, following Olsen's long-distance kick, making it 2-0.

A single goal at Anfield were separating Liverpool from the new title in those few minutes, but instead of a shocking turnover, we witnessed the one of that kind at the Etihad.

From 76th to 81st minute, Pep's boys propelled like a mighty machine, nailing not one, not two, but three spectacular team-effort goals to pave the way to the new EPL crown.

Gundogan - Rodri - Gundogan combined to produce a late comeback and secure the much-needed trophy, which presence means City had a good season.

When they heard what was happening at the Etihad, the Reds lost the earlier enthusiasm but still managed to nail two more and secure a consolating win.

In the other games, Burnley lost 1-2 at home to Newcastle to book their spot in the second division next season, while Leeds caught the last train for safety by beating Brentford 2-1 away.

Tottenham secured themselves a place in the Champions League at the expense of Arsenal, who tarnished Everton 5-1. But for Mikel Arteta and his boys, this brilliance came too late for anything more than fifth place and Europa League. They'll be joined there by deplorable Manchester United after the Red Devils lost to Crystal Palace in front of their future boss Erik ten Hag.

Last but not least, the Hammers will be playing in the Europa Conference League next season despite a 3-1 defeat at Brighton.
