Duncan Otieno was the only Kenyan in Zambia who tasted victory as three other Stars suffered defeats on Wednesday evening
Former AFC Leopards player Duncan Otieno was the only Kenyan to register a win in the Zambian Super League as his Lusaka Dynamos side emerged narrow 1-0 winners in matches played on Wednesday evening. Other Harambee Stars internationals in goalkeeper Shabaan Odhoji, Ian Otieno and specifically striker John Mark Makwata endured bad days as their respective teams went down in defeat. The forward was withdrawn in the 35th minute of the game after wasteful striking in front of goal. Here is a wrap f the action.
Duncan Otieno
Named in the starting eleven for Lusaka Dynamos who were taking on Nkwazi FC at the Nkoloma Stadium, Otieno managed to get 66 minutes of action under his belt before being replaced by Moussa Lemisa. With the game set to be end in a barren draw, two of the managers’ substitutions combined well to grab the solitary winning goal of the game in the 90th minute. Collins Sikombe, who got in the act in the 48th minute, got on the end of a Lemisa cross and broke the deadlock to give Otieno’s team three maximum points.
Shaban Ouma Odhoji
Former Gor Mahia keeper Shabaan Ouma Odhoji failed to keep a clean sheet as his relegation threatened Napsa Stars side fell to a 0-1 defeat at the hands Red Arrows courtesy of a James Chamanga goal scored in the 75th minute of the match played at the Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Ian Otieno and John Mark Makwatta
Both former AFC Leopards players, goalkeeper Otieno and striker Makwatta suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat as their log leading Zesco were stunned by second bottom Nkana FC at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
While Otieno played full minutes in goal, Makwatta was withdrawn in the 35th minute of the game after missing two glorious opportunities on goal. The leaders would come to rue those wasted chances as Nkana held onto a 20th minute strike from Alex Ng’ong’a till the final whistle of the game. With the solitary goal, Nkana ended Zesco 10-match winning run in the league and handed the team their first league defeat since the 6th of February.
